nn nn The National Transit & Rail Lead will act as the principal point of contact for the Transit & Rail planning, construction and engineering practice.
Leading the firm’s analysis of relevant trends and intelligence within the National Transit & Rail market, effectively and strategically manage the employees in the practice, develop new business to drive grown and provide technical leadership. nn nn In addition, optimize WSP industry visibility within the Transit & Rail market through the development of annual budgets and a market visibility plan and leadership of industry event planning and execution.
Maintain active leadership roles in national professional societies and organizations in the Transit & Rail market.
Participate in strategic pursuits, support strategy, development, serving as Principal in Charge/Project Director, participate in review teams, participate in presentations.

nn nn Clients: nn Oversee the development and growth in WSP’s relationships with key clients, strategic teaming partners and internal regional leadership teams Attend Conferences of strategic significance representing WSP and Transit & Rail practice Work with the Market Leaders, Regional Presidents and Area Office Managers to develop strategies and tactical action plans and to deliver business development and client relations objectives.
Coordinate with Regional Development Director, National Business Lines and regional leaders to maintain high level of focus on pipeline development across the nation.
Bring an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets Track results of all pursuits and analyze data to identify trends by client, business lines, market specialties, size, pursuit staff performance, etc.
Conduct periodic meetings with Clients to develop client relationships, gathering of information for upcoming projects, and to assess the firm’s performance on ongoing projects.
Assist International operating units on Transit & Rail pursuits and projects, providing expert technical assistance as well as resource requirements Expertise: Participate in National & International technical committees.

Operational Excellence: Prioritize investments to enhance WSP’s ability to deliver high quality, sustainable projects for clients bringing the best tools and practices available to market Support programs such as Safety, Sustainability and Ethics & Compliance Anticipate industry trends and position the firm to be at the forefront of technology through innovation and state-of-the art technology implementation.
Continue improvement of QA/QC procedures for use on Transit & Rail Projects Develop QA plans and conduct QA/QC for projects prepared within the Transit & Rail Market.
Coordinate and oversee the management of specialized software evaluation, procurement, and usage on a national basis for consistency, economy and work sharing benefits.
The successful candidate will need to operate from a mutually agreed major WSP office, in close proximity to a major airport.
nn Key performance indicators include: EBITDA, Organic Growth, $ Win Volume, Backlog, Gross Margin / Operation Margin, Inclusion & Diversity and Guiding Principles nn nn Provides leadership and support to business line leads including: Regional Presidents, Regional Development Directors, District Leadership, Alternate Delivery and project managers.
nn nn Job Requirements nn nn Qualifications: nn Bachelor’s degree with concentration in any of the following fields: Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Construction.
Advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience in leading and winning large strategic pursuits.
At least 17 years’ experience in Transit & Rail planning and engineering practice area with specific experience in project management, including preparing strategic marketing and business plans; Ability to maintain schedules, budgets, and profitability of assigned projects; preparing and managing proposals and presentations and working with clients and managers of various disciplines.
Affiliation with professional societies and active industry and community involvement highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence and goal oriented Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes with a commitment to internal and external client service Prior experience managing teams and demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity, career development and training.
Motivational; staff development mindset; excellent leadership/managerial and mentoring/teaching skills Highly organized; detail oriented; skilled with implementation/ logistics Budget management / enterprise business aptitude Experience with change management, Collaborative, drives consensus, Strong communication skills Experience in leading and winning large strategic pursuits.
Understanding of the commercial aspects of traditional and alternative delivery opportunities and how to how to manage the pursuit development process from creation through submission. Knowledge of WSP’s history and key markets in the region and an understanding of the competitive environment and regional players along with an understanding of local politics in the region.
Established relationships with clients, consultants, teaming partners, contractors and key client decision makers.
