School Social Worker

Overview

AnthroMed Education is an Illinois provider of employment solutions for Special Education professionals We are an organization dedicated to those in Special Education who know how exciting and rewarding it is to help children achieve. We are hiring a School Social Workers in Chicago, IL who will be assigned to several of our Charter School Partners in the city. These roles will support Elementary level students and the position will be for the entire 2020-2021 school year. We hire nurturing, passionate, and enthusiastic School Social Workers who will always go the extra mile for their students. Your caseload will include the following.

  • Maintain appropriate school records and provide written reports and communication logs
  • Develop programs that provide counseling to address the child”s social, emotional, and academic needs in areas such as school performance, anger management, conflict resolution or substance abuse, etc.
  • Participant in IEP process, attend IEP meetings and provide updates for IEP Counseling goals and objectives.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling or group counseling as needed to students and families
  • Facilitate processes for the evaluation of students for special education services and fully participate in the multidisciplinary team to promote student well-being.
  • Determine students eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and on-going progress.
  • Provide parents and guardians with information regarding community mental health resources and support networks
  • Maintain appropriate school records and provide written reports and communication logs
  • Implementation of verbal and physical components of the Programs prescribed methodologies for verbal de-escalation or physical management, when necessary
  • Provide informal and formal assessments
  • Provide social skills lessons in classrooms as needed or requested by Teachers

Education, Requirements, and Training

  • Masters Degree in Social Work required
  • Illinois PEL (Professional Education License) required
  • ISBE School Social Worker endorsement required
  • CPI Experience and Training strongly preferred
  • Experience with attendance support strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of the IEP process
  • Ability to demonstrate effective liaison relationships with schools, and agencies
  • Skills in conducting effective meetings and conferences including the resolution of disagreements
  • Ability to interpret data related to student goals for appropriate interventions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the school social work profession including associated laws, ethical issues, professional issues and standards; understanding of child development, psychopathology, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity, and family systems.
